It is with sadness that we announce the death of Bro John Gallagher at the age of 102. He was a member of Garryduff ILOL 15 for over 60 years and the oldest member of the Independent Loyal Orange Institution.

Johnny was born in Portrush on 21st October 1914 and joined the Royal Air Force on 12th July 1936. At the outbreak of World War II, Johnny saw action all over the world including Basra, Singapore, Baghdad, Capetown and the Gold Coast.

In 1943 he married Mary with whom he had three children – Jackie, Robert and Elizabeth. He joined Garryduff ILOL when he moved to the area after the war.

Johnny was blessed with long life and good health up until just before his death and would often recount many tales of his time serving in the RAF. We extend to his family our sincere condolences at this time.

Johnny is pictured below with his birthday cake from Garryduff ILOL when they celebrated the occasion of his 100th birthday almost three years ago with a social evening in the Orange Hall..
